Japan Promises “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” Manga Is Back!

Hey gang! Last month, Screen Rant broke the news that the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga series was back. Nothing had been announced in Japan, but apparently, Viz had posted an entry for chapter 141, scheduled for a July 2 date. That was a lie, or rather a massive mistake. Needless to say, disappointment reigned supreme over this false start.

However, Comic Natalie reported on the 16th that indeed, chapter 141 would get published in Weekly Shounen Sunday on July 23, 2025. Writer Yamada-sensei and artist Abe-sensei had this to say.

Thank you for your continued support! It’s thanks to all our readers. Please look forward to the second season of the anime, airing from January 2026.

So no reason given for the hiatus, though I would guess the anime production played a large roll. I’m fine with that if it means getting a faithful anime adaptation.

As I previously stated, I plan to start chapter reviewing Frieren when it resumes, since I’m current with the manga.
